MEET: Ghana's Top Fashion Stylist, Afua Rida

We hear of lots of fashion stylists, style bloggers and what have you, however, we seem to escape Ghana in one way or the other. So for today, I would like to take you to join me for a ride as we discover more about our nation's fashion stylist and style blogger, Afua Rida.

Afua Rida is a fashion stylist, style blogger, fashion consultant, and runway show producer, whose style can be described as conservative and classy.

Afua got her sense of style influenced by her mother whose style was classy yet effortless where she had her own personal style.
She adapted elements of her mother’s confident style, her North American and global experiences, and Ghanaian cultural influence, to create her own process just like her mother.

She's a force behind the nation's fashion industry and has partnered with Christie Brown, Mina Evans, Meena Official, Mythhouse, Maxhosa, and Lanre Da Silva. The impact of Rida's reach on social media even landed her a feature on CNN's African Voices.
Afua recognizes the continent's influence on fashion "through its colors, animals, water, prints, and patterns." She has a fervor for fashion in Africa and is excited to share its stories. According to her, fashion is a money-making industry, as well as a culture and culture, is life.

The start of her blogging journey began in August of 2015, where she was on vacation and then returned home to start shooting content for her platform. The first dress she dawned on was from Lisa Folawiyo. She says she had no expectations and certainly didn't think her audience would grow to her current 95,000 followers.
She has an A-Level GCSE certificate in Science and Social Science from the Ghana International School. She attended Concordia University and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, Specialization, and Marketing. She is currently a fashion stylist and blogger, consultant and producer.

She won the 2015 GlitzAfrica fashion blogger of the year. Afua Rida is one of the most beautiful women in Ghana.
Today, Afua Rida continues to be in love with what she does—to shine a light on the creativity coming from her home. Her blog is centered around fashion, "how to wear" tutorials, and self-confidence.
