Efya born as Jane Awindor on April 10, 1987 comes from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region and is a daughter to Nana Adwoa Awindor who is a filmmaker, and celebrity host of the late television show Greetings From Abroad.

She won the Best Female Vocal Performance category at the Ghana Music Awards in four successions, beginning in 2011.

Ghanaian Afropop singer, Mz Vee disclosed recently that for two years she had a mental breakdown which left her depressed over family and relationship matters. 

"For about two years say 2017, 2018, I was super depressed. Super depressed. It was just things happening personally and it happened to affect my relationship with work."

She revealed that during her depression period, the only person she could count on was her colleague Ghanaian singer, Efya, who has been in the industry for long.
