There are a million ways to wear braids, including elaborate cornrows, pretty fishtail plaits, and our latest obsession, knotless box braids. Similar to box braids, our go-to ‘do for the summer month and vacations, the hairstyle is a great way to protect our strands from stress and explore various lengths.
The only difference between our signature style and our newfound favorite is that knots aren’t required. Instead of securing braiding hair to the scalp with a knot, you feed your natural hair into the extension, which reduces tension and gives the protective style a natural look we love.
Knotless braids are one of the must-have protective styles. Not only are these braids beautiful, but they are also kinder to your hair. These braids do not use the tight knot that is used in more traditional box braids. Instead, these braids start with your own hair and the other hair is gradually fed in.
Unlike the traditional braiding technique that adds extensions right at the root, the knotless method starts with your natural hair and gradually adds pieces of hair to the braid as you go. This creates less tension on the scalp and minimizes the chance of breakage.
